Tatarlı – The Return of Colors

The tomb chamber of the Tumulus Tatarlı is one of the finest examples of the ancient art of wood painting which survived to the present day. It is exhibited for the first time at Yapı Kredi Vedat Nedim Tör Museum, with the support of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency. This magnificent work of art offers important insights into the life styles and beliefs of the inhabitants of Anatolia in 5th century B.C.

Yapı Kredi Vedat Nedim Tör Museum is hosting the “Tatarlı – The Return of Colours” exhibition sponsored by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency. The exhibition, open to visitors between June 18 – September 26, 2010, is held in cooperation with Yapı Kredi Culture, Art, and Publishing, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums of the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and  the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency. Visitors will be captivated by the colorful scenes of battle, ritual and myth depicted on the walls of a unique wooden tomb chamber.
